I was lucky enough to be invited to present two session at TechEd Australia this year. One of which was co-presenting with William Cornwill, who is my manager in my Virtual Technology Specialist Role (v-TSP) at Microsoft in Australia. We decided to present BCS to the SharePoint contigent taking it first from a Power User perspective in SharePoint Designer and then onto from a Developer perspective with normalised data.
The video and slide decks are available on TechEd Online now so please go check them out.
I’ve uploaded the finished demo BCS solution to SkyDrive for you guys to check out along with the demo notes you can follow through for yourself. I’ve also uploaded a full sample with read/update also. Will used the Northwind database which is a great place to start with BCS, and I used a custom normalised database but I would recommend the Adventure Works sample to kick start.
Thank you so much for all of you that reviewed my session afterwards on COMMNET. We came in joint second on the Office Track which is great! We had nearly 200 in the room and got 23 submissions, it means a lot to the speakers and in future would appreciate everyones support! It takes 2 secs to fill out!
I warmed up the crowd by interviewing them about who had Windows Mobile Phones and who had Apple iPhones following with who’d dump for Windows Phone 7 when it comes out later this year. Definitely worth a watch!
There plenty of other great videos on the TechEd Australia Facebook page.
